Businesses get first say on town centre
CANVEY Town Centre is set for a facelift - and local businesses will get the first say.
The Castle Point Regeneration Partnership sees the revitalisation of Canvey town centre as essential to the successful regeneration of the borough.
Extensive consultation is planned with local residents and the broader community, but the partnership is kicking off the initiative by speaking to the businesses and shopkeepers already based in the town centre.
Cllr Norman Smith, Castle Point Borough Council's cabinet member for regeneration and economic development, said: "Local businesses have already made a major commitment to Canvey and we need to ensure that their voice is fully heard in taking forward the masterplanning of the town centre.
"I urge all businesses to attend the meeting next week so that their viewpoint can be injected into the process at the earliest opportunity."
The meeting will be held at the Oysterfleet Hotel in Knightswick Road, Canvey Island, on June 24. Invites have been sent to all businesses based in the town centre.
The Regeneration Partnership includes Castle Point Borough Council, Essex County Council, Canvey Island Town Council, the RSPB, Government representatives and regional regeneration bodies like Thames Gateway South Essex.
